new tricks, new teeth

We went from no teeth, to a mouth full of teeth in 2 weeks!

And we went from sitting, to standing, to crawling! What a busy baby!

Do They Look Alike?

A lot of people ask if Molly looks like Jack. Here is her 8 month picture...and Jack's seven month picture. You decide...

young Jedi

Jack was thrilled. He was choosen to participate in the Jedi Academy Show at Disneyland.

Need to see the expression close-up?

Praticing his moves...
In a dramatic moment...Jack faced the Dark Side...
Jack was choosen to battle first...
Good thing he learned to duck...
Literally, blowing kisses to the crowd...
The certificate proves it. Jack is a Jedi.

more thoughts on the future

I am not sure what has sparked all of these thoughts and questions...
(on a side note, Jack had a rough day at school yesterday and my frustration level was high...but, tonight, he made up for it!)
Tonight, Jack asked to see pictures of our wedding...and after looking through them, we had this conversation as he was getting ready for bed:
Jack: Thanks for showing me the pictures from when you were married.
Me: No problem.
Jack: You really looked beautiful.
Me: Thanks.
Jack: When I grow up, will I marry you, too?
Me: No, I will always be your mom,
you can't marry your mom.
Jack: Well, then, I can marry Molly.
Me: Well, not really. You can't marry your
sister either.
Jack:.....(long silence)
Me: You just marry the person who is
your best friend.
Jack: Well, Gavin is my best friend...so,...
Me: Yes, but you would marry a girl.
A girl who is your best friend.
Jack: Well, Molly IS my best friend.
Me: I know. You love your sister. You don't
have to decide who it will be right now.
You still have lots of time.
Jack: O.K...good.....
(silence)
But, Mom, can I still live here?

parents

Jack: Mom, when I grow up will I be a parent?
Me: Probably.
Jack: Is everyone a parent?
Me: Well, no. Not everyone. Some people don't have any kids.
Jack: Well, then, why did you want one.
Me: Well, I wanted two of them, and I think I got the best ones.
Jack: The best in the whole world?
Me: I think so. Kind of like I got the jackpot.
Jack: Yep. And you even got
the "molly-pot".
later...

Jack: But, Mom. When I am a parent, can I still live with you? Because I would miss everyone like you, and Dad, and Molly. And my telescope. I would miss all of that.
(I did agree to this, Jack living with us forever. Only because I am sure there will be a time when he can't WAIT to get out of here...)

Having a bad day?

This should help a little...

miracle

Here is the little guy I wrote about earlier...Isn't he tiny and perfect!
Talan Rayce Smith
Here is an update from his mom
(plus, I added a link to his page...under Sites I Love to Visit):
Talan is 56 days, or 33 weeks or 8 weeks adjusted. He is doing well. He weighs 1470 grams which is 3 lbs 4 oz. Last Saturday he was taken off oxygen with room air. Which is a HUGE accomplishment. I am so proud of my little over acheiver. Monday he was dressed in a football outfit, along with his ex 25 week buddy Beckett next to him. In honor of Monday night football. They are partners in crime! Yesterday Kiis FM was broadcasting from CHOC lollipop radio station inside the front lobby of the hospital. It was insance with Ryan Seacrest and all kinds of celebrities. Tim was able to get onto the radio and talk to Ryan. Ryan gave a shout out to "Talan in room 209" LOL. It was also rebroadcasted today. A lot of the nurses and staff were walking up to me yesterday and today saying they heard Tim on the radio. That was great.

pancakes! for dinner?

Yes, I know. We are a wild family. To celebrate Tuesday
("WipeOut Night") and a new fancy griddle,
I decided to make breakfast for dinner.
I even tossed some chocolate chips into the batter.
When I served Jack his plate, with pancakes and a banana,
this is what I heard.
Only not with the positive enthusiasm I had expected:
J: "What? Pancakes? for dinner?"
Me: "Yep. How cool is that?"
J: "Not so cool. I like dinner the old-fashioned, PROPER way."
Me: no comment...I mean, really, what could I possibly say?
(He did, however, EAT the pancakes.
And I think I even saw him smile, too!)

The Cooper 'Entourage'

Ken reminded me that I didn't post about our encounter with Entourage's Rex Lee (Lloyd) on our way home from Ohio this summer. Granted, it was cool to meet him and take a picture (gotta love Jack's blue tongue!)...but, I think that I have big expectations about meeting celebrities at the airport. I mean, how can anyone top meeting Dr. McDreamy?

This is EXACTLY why...

...I only give Molly the teething cookies before a bath.
SO, SO gross!

for my fellow eagles...

Much to the happiness of her Poppa, Molly went to her first football game on Friday. The game was held at the new stadium at my old high school...yes, my fellow eagles, Estancia now can really play HOME games at home...Molly was less concerned about the game and more concerned about looking darling in her hat...

Clone Trooper? Clone Pooper?

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
A little boy loved trains...then space...then robots...and now....
Star Wars.
In fact, Star Wars is slowly taking over our house.
Everywhere I look, I am reminded
of this new "phase" in Jack's life...
meet: The Clone Pooper.

Ultimate Fighter

This post has NOTHING to do with our family...but I feel very compelled to share.
I met up with a girlfriend last week. We have known each other since the 2nd grade. While not "best" friends, we were definitely friends...
She just (well, about a month ago) had her baby boy...at 25 weeks.
Talan weighed in at 1 lb. 12 oz, 11.5 inches...
I met up with her at CHOC, where Talan has made amazing progress...he is the ultimate fighter. He is way over 2 pounds now...and has the sweetest little face I have ever seen. Everything about him is little. Everything about him is perfect.
So, if you believe in prayer, consider adding this family to your list. They are so strong...

This post is brought to you by...

the letter O.
Jack made an octopus for the letter O at school.
Molly LOVES Cheerios.
looking innocent...
and then, she sees it out of the corner of her eye...
Yes! She seems to think she has hit the jackpot...only to find...
they are glued down...
as if the fine motor skill of picking
them up isn't hard enough for an 8 month old!

Daddy Did It

(Mommy just took the pictures!)

Bonus

Jack has been playing too many video games.
Today is Labor Day.
A Monday and no school.
"Oh, it's like a bonus round!"
We spent our bonus round at Disneyland...
waiting for the tram
creating a fancy PB&J (our favorite thing to order!)

Molly shows off her shirt...and title of Miss Chievous
The highlight for Jack was the Honda Asimo Show. We had just seen a tv show about this robot...and had no idea they had it at Innoventions (another bonus!)

The highlight for me...This view as I pushed the stroller...

Happy Labor Day!

First Day...

was good! Second day was great! Once Jack came to realize that I would not be having lunch with him (like I did in summer school) things became much better... He told Nana it was "awesome" and that his favorite thing was storytime because "Ms. Joo reads funny stories".

We celebrated our first 2 days with dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe. When we got home, around 7:00, Jack said, "Mom, I know it's not time yet, but I am ready for bed". I didn't argue with that one!
