We went to the L.A. Zoo today.
I had fun taking pictures of all the wild animals...

but, found more joy in photographing THESE wild animals:

changing

Jack is changing before my eyes.
He's growing up way too fast.
Today, we went to Disneyland.
He and Ken waited for Star Tours...and then, knowing you have to be 7 to ride alone, Jack
asked if he could go on his own, and requested that Ken wait for him at the exit.

I know, he's still a little kid, but, he's definitely changing.

Fingerprint Friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of god.
When I look at you, I can see the fingerprints of god.
And I know its true.
You're a masterpiece, that all creation quietly applauds.
And you're covered with the fingerprints of god.

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints.

I am taking Friday to honor a very special little girl, on her first birthday.

Anabella Ringgold was born on May 27, 2009 with a rare skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB. She has the rarest form, called Recessive Dystrophic, or RDEB for short. A single gene in her body responsible for making the anchor that hold her skin to her body is defective. This causes blisters and wounds to occur all over her body, including her mouth and entire GI tract. Any kind of friction, rubbing, bumping can cause blisters to form, or it can cause her skin to shear clean off. Currently, there is no cure for EB. Life expectancy is under 20 years due to risk of malnutrition, infection, or squamous cell carcinoma. Although pain and discomfort is constant, Bella remains bright and cheerful, bless her heart.

Bella will be having a stem cell bone marrow transplant at University of Minnesota this summer.
Please wrap this family in your prayers, as this is a big procedure.
If you would like to learn more about Bella, you can visit her family's blog here.

Wordy Wednesday

I love this one because of the drawing...
The boy on the right is clearly Jack, blonde hair and blue eyes, holding hands with his crab friend, saying "Let's Go!" (speech bubble is tiny!)
The other boy, is amazed at the pet crab...and his speech bubble has a "?" inside :)

a kite's tale

Our second attempt was closer to what I really envisioned...
We had a wonderfully sunny, but windy day.
(Last time, it was gloomy, remember?)

This post almost had a sad ending.
The kite took Molly for a thrill ride, which ended up with her letting go of the string.
Which ended up, with the handle WAY up in the tree, and the kite flying across the street.
See?
We finally convinced Jack we would buy a new kite...
so, we left, with a sad face...but, as we were buckling up, the kite fell to the ground, across the street. Ken RAN before the wind picked up again, and we were able to save our kite. Whew.
(p.s. I LOVE my new camera!)

How can we not see the fingerprints in the face of a new baby?
This sweet baby girl, was 9 hours old when I first met her...
and, how can you not see the fingerprints in some love from her big brother?
Welcome Valentina!
Congrats, Liconas!

Imagine how Jack's writing about winter would be if he had ever really BEEN in the snow!

Imagine...with ELMO

Molly and I had another wonderful playdate with our friends.
This one, was big time.
It's really hard getting 5 kids under 3 to look at you...this was the best shot!

At first, it's a little overwhelming to see Big Bird.
He's REALLY big!
I love their little legs on the seats :)
Mia, Molly, and Taylor clapping and dancing.
Popcorn at intermission.
Happy girls = happy mommies
What a wonderful show!
So happy to spend the day with some of our favorite people!

I got my new camera a few weeks ago, and still haven't figured out what exactly it can do.
But, I knew I wanted to take some beach pictures.
Molly cried the whole time.
I was feeling defeated.
I plopped her down on the towel, and played with buttons.
I managed to get this shot, it's NOT edited at all...
I know it wasn't the "right" setting, but I still love the outcome.

my day

I had a great Mother's Day on Sunday.
We spent the day in Long Beach.
First the aquarium, then lunch.

Jack was so proud to feed the lorakeets.
Molly wanted to feed them, but was nervous. So, she watched in awe.
Because it was early, the birds were very active.
A year ago, Jack would've NEVER done this.
When we told him he looked like a pirate, he made his hand a hook :)
A ride on the carousel, and a trip to the bookstore after lunch.
