fingerprint friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says: I can see the fingerprints of god. When I look at you, I can see the fingerprints of god. And I know its true. You're a masterpiece, that all creation quietly applauds. And you're covered with the fingerprints of god.

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints.
Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them?


I teach Kindergarten. I teach kids. I teach them the days of the week, the months of the year. I teach them colors and shapes. I teach them to use scissors correctly. I teach them to wipe their noses by themselves. I teach them to make friends. I teach them not to tattle. I teach them about being safe. I teach them to love each other. I teach them to use the computer.
I teach them to count. I teach them to write. I teach them to read. I (try to ) teach them to sit quietly. I teach them to cut and paste, to color, to share, to exercise, to write their names, to add and subtract. I teach them to love school. And sometimes, when we have time, I can teach them to draw.
For Read Across America, we drew the Cat in the Hat.
The first, and only rule I have during art, is the kids are not allowed to say "I can't".
I can not believe how well they did.





It's a rough time for schools right now. It's not looking good.
More friends will lose their jobs, more kids added to our roster.
It makes me want to run away.
But, for now, I can only work with things within my control, within my classroom.
So, we do ALL the things I mentioned. AND we do art.
