(double) date

Jack and I had a date last weekend.
Ken bought us tickets to see Toy Story & Toy Story 2 (in 3D!)
at the El Capitan in Los Angeles.

We got there really early. And it was freezing.
So, we stopped at the corner souvenir shop
in hopes to buy a sweatshirt.
But they were $30, so I made him tough it out.
We did, however, buy Jack his first Academy Award.
Best Actor. Drama.

Did you know that Kermit has his own star?

Waiting in line.

Balcony seats are lots of fun!

I hadn't been to a double feature in a really, really long time.
But, these movies are just so good. I mean, really good.
I love movies that have the parents laughing WITH their kids.
Thank you, Disney & Pixar, for making movies that
make my son giggle.
We had a great day. I am so thankful to have special
days with Jack. I realize that he is growing up way too much.
I love the conversations we have, the questions he asks,
and just the person he is growing up to be.

pumpkins

First, check out last year. When things were easier.
Molly wasn't walking, so I was able to get some cute pictures of her with pumpkins!

What a difference a year makes!

We found a great pumpkin patch behind Main Place mall.
They have lot of inflatables and a petting zoo, and pony rides!
They had the strangest pumpkins and gourds I have ever seen!

Jack loved the inflatables...

Molly did not.She did love the petting zoo, as usual.
(I don't know why this is underlined!)

And Jack loved driving around.

Here is the one that came home with us!
We had to keep it safe in the car!

Molly likes to wear her Halloween visor as a necklace.
And this is a cute bracelet she made at daycare, her first official "craft".
It's made out of piece of a toilet paper roll.
She was so proud of it!

tradition

We have been going to the Tustin Tiller Days
for as long as I can remember.
The carnival takes place behind Ken's old school and is a fun community event.
I was looking for pictures from last year,
to show how much Molly has changed. Last year,
she was definitely stroller bound.
And while she couldn't ride the rides this year, she managed
to make some new friends! Part of the tradition is meeting up with our good friends.
Their daughter and Jack are (usually) best buddies.
I did find some old pictures of these two...
and seeing how much they have grown amazes me!

(could they be any cuter?!)
The Tiller Days means Fall is FINALLY here!
Hooray!

Papa

It makes my heart smile to see my own kids with MY grandfather.
I know that Sundays have got to be his favorite day,
because he is with family, but more importantly,
his GREAT grandkids.
When we drive to my parents' house, we talk about who we will see.
Molly goes through the list:
"Nana...Papa...Kitty...Papa"
Papa Red is proud of us, and even more proud of these special
little people. I know, just like the rest of us, he feels a little sad
that Grandma Pearl didn't get as much time with them.

I remember spending days and nights at their house.
Grandpa would play lots of tricks on my Grandma.
We would walk to McDonald's,
and on the way, we would stop at a fountain on the way.
I remember him drawing anchor tattoos on our arms.
And hiding our Easter baskets.
And wearing crazy wigs.
And letting us crush the cans to recycle them.
I remember his blue truck and camper.

My kids will remember him differently,
but the same.

We love Papa Red!
