Fingerprint Friday (finally!)

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says: I can see the fingerprints of god. When I look at you, I can see the fingerprints of god. And I know its true. You're a masterpiece, that all creation quietly applauds. And you're covered with the fingerprints of god.

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints.

A few Jackisms for my Friday.
Just because.

- Jack thought he wasn't feeling good on Tuesday when we got to school. I had him "tough it out". He came in after school and declared:
"Mom. I survived the day. With regular, non-hurting stomach, no fever, and normal breathing."

- In the car, I was telling him that Mrs. Licona would be having her baby soon.
And he asked the dreaded question, "How do you get babies?"
I told him, "Jack. It's REALLY complicated. I don't want to talk about it today".
And he replied, "Why? Do you think I will over react?"

- When we left the classroom yesterday, he told me he forgot, I watched him run back to my desk and whisper to my classroom caterpillars. When he got back, I asked him what he had to do. "I told them to have a nice rest, and to grow a little. And that I would see them in the morning."

- At the re-release of Captain EO, they show a "behind the scenes" movie while you wait.
Jack asked me, "Do they show us this video to remind us how lame the 80's were?"

- A few weeks ago, we went to the Natural Science Museum. Jack picked out a stuffed red blood cell from the gift shop. He's very interested in blood and cells, and that kind of stuff right now.
Anyway, on the tag, it has some facts about blood cells. For example, that it takes your body a whole week to grow ONE cell....Last weekend, he was happy it was Saturday. Not because of no school, but because it meant he had "one more blood cell in my body".

Just a few Jackims for my Friday.
Just because he's awesome.

marching feet

Today was the March of Dimes walk.
After the last few emotional weeks, I felt like this walk could not have come at a more appropriate time.
I ended up walking by myself this year.

Like last year, I was amazed to be a part of something so big...

I was feeling tired by Mile 4.
But, Mile 4 is called "Mission Mile"...and it made me remember why I walk.
These posts are set up the entire mile.
Heartbreaking and hard to read...but that's why it's so important to do.

Today, I walked for:

Talan and Calla, who continue to inspire me.

But, also, I walked for Cora, Maddie...and for Abby & Lilly, babies I never met, but are in my heart.

Costa Mesa FUN Run

Ken took the kiddos to the Fun Run today.
Jack was pretty excited. Molly was just along for the ride.

at the front...sizing up the competition.
Ready, Set....GO!
Finish line
a high five from sister...
and...another medal.
For Jack, it really was a fun run.

Wordy Wednesday

Again, I continue my Wordy Wednesday series, with one of my favorite journal entries. Ever.
This one is especially charming, because it features a "P.S." as the closing.
(and, to remind you, I simply copy the pages and trace over with a black pen. The other writing you see is editing by his teacher)

my tiny (best) friends

"Friends are born, not made."
- Henry Adams

"My father always used to say that when you die,
if you've got five real friends,
you've had a great life."
* Lee Iacocca
I am brought to tears by this photo.
Tears of complete joy.
Our babies have grown so much, together.
The mommies have grown so much, together.
But, here's the thing.
I look at this picture...
and I don't see my c0-workers' kids.
I don't even see Molly's friends.
I see MY friends.
My littlest friends.
Oh, are all so completely loved.
Your giggles, smiles, and tiny friendships
melt my heart.
I love how you are all so different,
but yet completely the same.
Promise me, babies...
That since I can't STOP you from growing,
that I can be there forever to watch you grow with Molly.
And mommies, thank you for sharing your babies with me.
I promise to always have my camera...
because moments like this are priceless.

Molly and I had a playdate today, with all our Richman friends.
I can't call them babies anymore.
We had a playdate with my friends and Molly's friends.
And I took a lot of pictures. Like 150.
But, I had to reflect and share...

Wordy Wednesday

Because I got my hands on all of Jack's first grade journals, I am saying goodbye to Wordless Wednesday, and am starting a Wordy Wednesday for awhile.
There are too many that I want to creative little writer makes me smile!
(FYI- I scanned these, and then traced over with a black marker, to make them easier to read, but I didn't change anything)

the love affair continues...

I already posted about how Molly loves her blankets.
She still does.
And, her new favorite thing is sitting on the potty.
Do you see where this is going?

go fly a kite

When Ken brought Jack a kite home from Washington DC, I had visions of taking lots of pictures of them flying it together. Pictures with a beautiful blue sky, big white clouds, Molly in a cute little dress...
But, we went today.
And while the weather wasn't what I wanted, these pictures are still pretty good.

This one is my favorite:

a day in L.A.

Yesterday, we ventured up to L.A.
We visited the Museum of Natural History and the California Science Center.
It was fun to go somewhere "new" together.
